Thieves at Birmingham's New Street train station came armed with an angle grinder to steal bikes, according to British Transport Police(BTP). Officers today released a CCTV image of two people who may hold key information in cracking the case.

Officers said a bike was stolen from the Drop and Go tunnel of the busy station on Saturday, June 3. Thieves sliced through a bike lock with an angle grinder before one rode off on it.

Passer-by Bilal Baig, 37, from Great Barr, previously told how he was threatened with an angle grinder and ordered to 'back off' when he confronted two suspected bike thieves at the station on the same day. When he asked what they were doing, Mr Bilal said he was told to 'f**k off, back off' and shown the cutter.
